About the role
- Identify power development opportunities within region to meet DC build timelines
- Own relationship with current and potential utility partners
- Oversee the management and negotiation of utility connection agreements
- Manage agreements with Independent Power Producers (IPPs)
- Evaluate options for On Site Power Generation & storage
- Assist in the development and execution of strategies for power availability across Equinix facilities
- Monitor and analyze energy markets and regulatory changes
- Provide expert guidance on regional power strategy
- Contribute to power strategy for new and existing developments
- Collaborate with legal team for compliance with contracts
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with power procurement
Requirements
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in power origination
- Experience in utilities connection agreements and relationship management
- Bachelor's degree in Energy Management, Engineering, Business, or related field
- Advanced degree or certifications in energy management or project management preferred
- Extensive knowledge of existing and emerging energy systems, utility connections, IPP agreements, and US energy markets
- Proven experience leading complex projects related to energy infrastructure and procurement
- Strong understanding of the legal and regulatory aspects of utility agreements and IPP contracts
- Deep familiarity with US & LATAM energy market, including trends, key players, and emerging technologies
- Primary language English with proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred
