About the role

  • Lead all aspects of payroll processing including balancing payroll budget, documenting all transactions related to employee wages, commissions, bonuses.
  • Support both onsite and remote team members, coordinating closely with the Finance, HR, and Operations teams.
  • Own biweekly payroll processing, year-end activities, and audits, ensuring accurate payroll operations, strict regulatory compliance across states, and data integrity across multi-state, multi-company payrolls.
  • Ensure payroll runs are completed on time and in compliance with internal controls and company policies.
  • Prepare and file all required payroll tax returns (federal, state, local in the US) and respond to notices from tax authorities.
  • Manage year-to-date tax reporting, unemployment insurance, and reconciliations for the US.
  • Lead tasks including W-2s, quarterly 941s, 940, 1099s (if applicable) and related state filings.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits related to payroll and payroll tax compliance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive payroll processing experience required, including multi-state and multi-company/entity payroll experience.
  • Manufacturing setting or similarly complex setting preferred
  • Strong knowledge of US payroll processes, taxes and year-end obligations.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Excel or Google Sheets (v-lookups, pivots, data imports/exports)
  • Extensive experience specifically with Rippling, highly preferred
  • Payroll system implementation
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) preferred
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding compensation, benefits, employee issues, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience providing outstanding customer support
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree preferred
