About the role
- Intakes high-volume of patient billing inquiries and coordinates with internal business partners to obtain relevant documents and information relating to those patient billing inquiries
- Collaborates cross-functionally with supported business units and internal stakeholders in Health Plan Relations (HPR), Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), Risk Department, and the Legal Litigation team
- Prepares draft correspondence in connection with patient inquiries
- Prepares draft correspondence and legal documents in connection with Revenue Operations (RO) matters, as directed by and overseen by attorneys
- Provides support for non-governmental audits and health plan claims reviews, including data analysis of information presented in excel
- Performs legal research for RO lane, including state law research on prompt pay statutes, payment in full, and state mandated payments
- Assists with managed care, litigation evaluation, and business development initiatives related due diligence requests
- Creates excel spreadsheets and power point presentations at the direction of attorneys
- Manages document templates and ancillary documents, and ensures proper version control
- Schedules and coordinates meetings and appointments
- Responsible for matter management in the RO lane, including opening matters in the Legal Tracker Billing system, preparing reports in Legal Tracker, entering matters into internal tracker, updating items as needed, and running ad hoc reports
- Prepares and maintains process documents and business partner contact information
- Provides other health plan relations and revenue operations support for the RO lane
- Provides support for Out Of Network arbitration team, as needed
- Monitors changes in laws, guidelines, and regulations and escalates to attorneys as necessary
- Attends meetings between Legal, HPR, RCM, and/or other business units as needed
- Works on special projects as assigned
- Regular and reliable attendance required
- Responsible for adhering to company’s code of conduct, ethics statements, employee handbook(s), policies and procedures and other corporate mandates, including participation in mandatory training programs
Requirements
- Associates degree and paralegal certificate from an ABA approved program, or relevant educational and/or work experience, required
- At least 2 years of paralegal experience
- Analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently
- Organizational skills and ability to prioritize
- Strong communication skills, oral and written
- Commitment to teamwork, collaboration, and continuous learning
- Microsoft Office Suite (Intermediate Excel experience is desired)
- Legal Research Tools (e.g., Westlaw)
- Legal Billing Software (e.g., Legal Tracker)
- Organized, highly motivated individual
- Public Notary highly desired
