About the role
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for coding functions supporting pediatric and pediatric surgical services
- Ensure compliance with all applicable coding guidelines, regulatory requirements, and payer rules
- Oversee coding quality, productivity, and audit outcomes; implement corrective action plans as needed
- Lead, mentor, and develop coding leadership and staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Partner with clinical, revenue cycle, compliance, and operational stakeholders to support accurate charge capture and optimized reimbursement
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to coding accuracy, timeliness, and denial prevention
- Support system initiatives, workflow optimization, and technology enhancements related to coding operations
- Maintain an on‑site presence (up to 50%) to support operational effectiveness, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- Extensive experience in pediatric coding, including pediatric surgical specialties (required)
- Progressive leadership experience in coding operations, including people management
- Strong knowledge of ICD‑10‑CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS, and pediatric‑specific coding guidelines
- Proven experience driving coding quality, compliance, and operational performance
- Ability to partner effectively with executive, clinical, and operational leaders.
