About the role
- Perform quality control inspections of bridge structural steel and stainless steel fabrication activities in a shop environment
- Inspect welding operations in accordance with CSA W47.1 / W59 , project specifications, and approved WPS/WPQ
- Verify material traceability , heat numbers, MTRs, and compliance with project specifications
- Review and interpret structural, mechanical, and fabrication drawings
- Conduct dimensional checks, fit-up inspections, and final visual inspections
- Monitor fabrication processes including cutting, forming, welding, assembly, and surface preparation
- Ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures , inspection and test plans (ITPs), and hold points
- Identify non-conformances, issue NCRs , and follow up on corrective actions
- Maintain accurate inspection records, daily reports, weld logs, and turnover documentation
- Liaise with fabrication personnel, supervisors, engineers, and project stakeholders
- Promote and enforce site safety requirements and safe work practices
Requirements
- CWB Level 2 or Level 3 Certification – Required
- Fabrication Shop Experience – Required
- Structural Steel Experience – Mandatory
- Experience with bridge structural steel fabrication inspection
- Knowledge of stainless steel and piping inspections
- Strong understanding of QA/QC systems and documentation
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and structural drawings
- Mandatory Safety Certifications CSTS WHMIS First Aid
