About the role
- Responsible for the development of the Engineered Risk business within their assigned territory.
- Underwrite complex construction projects to properly determine capacity allocation, attachment point, terms and pricing to create a diverse and profitable book of business.
- Manages and develops producer and client relationships.
- Develops and executes a regional marketing plan aimed at retaining existing business and producing new business.
- Creates and fosters a reputation as an industry expert with peers and producers.
- Provide technical expertise to Sompo International's Global Risk Solution and Inland Marine product lines.
- Gather and evaluate industry trends and competitive intelligence.
- Participates in the development of the policy forms, premium rating plans and underwriting guidelines.
- Maintain files in an orderly manner consistent with company guidelines.
- Ability to work with others within a team and contribute to the development of others.
- Ability to attend industry function(s).
- Ability to travel nationally 25% of the time
Requirements
- 12+ years of Engineered Risk/Construction Property underwriting experience
- Established relationships with regional retail & wholesale brokers
- Established relationships with national facultative reinsurers
- Experience in successfully underwriting, quoting, and binding profitable business
- Bachelor’s Degree with an Engineering discipline preferred
- Strong Attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Strong computer skills, Microsoft office applications
