About the role
- Establish, maintain, and enforce Configuration Management (CM) policies, procedures, and standards aligned with ITIL or industry best practices.
- Maintain the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency of configuration item (CI) data.
- Oversee the Change Management process, including change request evaluation, impact analysis, approval coordination, implementation tracking, and post-implementation review.
- Collaborate with technical and program teams to ensure that all configuration changes are logged, approved, tested, and communicated appropriately.
- Support audits and assessments by providing documentation and records related to configuration and change control.
- Provide regular reporting and metrics on configuration and change activities to stakeholders.
- Ensure traceability and version control of system and service baselines.
- Interface with quality assurance, cybersecurity, and operations teams to ensure change impacts are assessed and mitigated.
- Work primarily on-site in a secure facility; may require on-call availability and after-hours work during outages or upgrades.
- Occasional travel to support project reviews or site inspections.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Configuration Management (CM) on IT service-related contracts within the past ten (10) years.
- ITIL Certification.
- Computing Environment Certifcations (Linux, Window, etc).
- IAT Level II (GSEC, Sec+, SCNP, and SSCP).
- Active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance may be required depending on the contract.
- Proven understanding of IT configuration and change control practices, including use of CM tools and ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy).
- Experience creating and managing configuration baselines and change logs.
- Familiarity with ITIL, ISO, or CMMI frameworks related to CM.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or federal government IT contracts (preferred).
- Experience with automated CM tools and version control systems (e.g., Git, Ansible, Puppet) (preferred).
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and how configuration management supports secure operations (preferred).
- Must be capable of working in a structured, process-driven environment and managing multiple configuration threads simultaneously.
- Must be able to work in a high-security environment and comply with all relevant security protocols.
- May require on-call availability and after-hours work during outages or upgrades; occasional travel to support project reviews or site inspections.
