About the role
- Learn combustion turbine operations, mechanical fundamentals, and system behavior to support controls development.
- Build foundational knowledge of combustion turbine control strategies used in modern power generation systems.
- Develop application code solutions and contribute to real-world project deliverables.
- Assist in designing, developing, and testing HMI control screens that support operator visibility and decision‑making.
- Support software testing, troubleshooting, and application validation using historical and live system data.
- Contribute to the development of software standards, templates, and best practices to improve consistency and quality.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—internally and externally—to support successful project execution.
- Receive mentorship and hands‑on guidance from experienced controls engineers as you build technical depth and engineering judgment.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or STEM degree
- Interest in controls engineering, troubleshooting, and power generation systems.
- Willingness to learn, take initiative, and grow in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines.
- Ability to travel up to 10% as needed to support projects.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States. Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder). Emerson will not petition for H-1B or any other visa for this position.
- Coursework, internships, or hands-on project experience related to control systems, automation, or power systems.
- Exposure to software testing, HMI design, or system validation.
- Familiarity with industrial control systems or programming languages such as ladder logic, function block, or structured text.
- An interest in power generation technology, sustainability, or modernization of legacy infrastructure.
- Ability to analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and apply engineering principles to solve problems.
