About the role

  • Submit primary and secondary insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Review, research, and resolve denied or rejected claims; follow up with payers as needed.
  • Manage aging reports and pursue unpaid claims to resolution.
  • Respond to patient billing questions and explain balances clearly and professionally.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, obtain authorizations, and post payments.
  • Secure and manage prior authorizations when required.
  • Assist with audits, month-end reconciliation, and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams on documentation, coding accuracy, and billing workflows.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience
  • Strong working knowledge of CPT codes, ICD-10 coding, insurance billing rules
  • Experience with EHR or practice management systems required; Valant EHR experience strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with major payers including BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Medicare, and Medicaid
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills and a high level of professionalism.
