About the role
- Submit primary and secondary insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner.
- Review, research, and resolve denied or rejected claims; follow up with payers as needed.
- Manage aging reports and pursue unpaid claims to resolution.
- Respond to patient billing questions and explain balances clearly and professionally.
- Verify insurance eligibility, obtain authorizations, and post payments.
- Secure and manage prior authorizations when required.
- Assist with audits, month-end reconciliation, and financial reporting.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams on documentation, coding accuracy, and billing workflows.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of medical billing experience
- Strong working knowledge of CPT codes, ICD-10 coding, insurance billing rules
- Experience with EHR or practice management systems required; Valant EHR experience strongly preferred
- Familiarity with major payers including BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Medicare, and Medicaid
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills and a high level of professionalism.
