About the role
- As an Effectual Cloud Migration Engineer, you will be an important member of a migration team assisting clients who are migrating from on-premises infrastructure or VMC to AWS cloud native services.\n
- You will work with a technical leader to implement, and manage, and migrate workloads to AWS cloud environments, while maintaining optimal migration strategies for diverse application portfolios.\n
- The engineer will utilize AWS-native services, containerization, serverless architectures, and advanced analytics capabilities to modernize and migrate applications, ensuring seamless transitions that align with best practices and the Well-Architected Framework.\n
- This positions reports to Sr Manager, Migrations and Modernizations.\n
- Responsibilities include planning, executing, and optimizing cloud migration projects on the AWS platform, leveraging AWS migration tools and methodologies to ensure successful migrations for our clients.\n
- Additionally, you will provide technical leadership and mentorship to customer engineers as they begin to adopt AWS.\n
- Collaborate with security teams to implement and enforce cloud security measures, including access controls, encryption, and threat detection.\n
Requirements
- 4-7 years of experience developing AWS cloud infrastructure\n
- 2+ years Hands-on experience with AWS migration services such as AWS Migration Hub (MGN), Database Migration Service (DMS), and AWS Cloud Migration Services.\n
- Proficient in developing Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g.: Terraform / AWS CloudFormation)\n
- Work with multiple clients, in parallel\n
- Experience with AWS including core services and infrastructure components\n
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash\n
- 2+ years experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation\n
- Experience with log management, monitoring, and data analysis\n
- Familiarity with virtualization, containerization, and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)\n
- Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols, including virtual private clouds (VPCs), subnets, load balancers, and DNS\n
- Understanding of cloud security principles and best practices, including access controls, encryption, and security groups\n
- Experience in data and database management, including data integration, ETL processes, SQL query optimization, and database administration\n
- Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra)\n
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills\n
- 2+ years experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation\n
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash\n
- Experience in VMware hosted Virtual Machine Infrastructure\n
- Cloud Cost Optimization (Right-Sizing, Cost Management Tools)
