Substation Engineer

Mechanical Engineer

• Serve as the technical authority and discipline lead for all mechanical engineering aspects of power delivery projects.
• Oversee and review the design of HVAC systems, oil containment, cooling systems, piping, conduit supports, equipment enclosures, and other mechanical components for substations and related facilities.
• Lead the development and review of calculations, specifications, design drawings, and construction documentation.
• Provide mechanical design guidance for transformer installations, gas-insulated substations (GIS), and high-voltage equipment layouts.
• Support thermal and ventilation studies, ensuring that substation environments maintain safe and efficient operating conditions.
• Collaborate with civil, electrical, and structural teams to deliver fully integrated and constructible design solutions.
• Conduct site visits and field assessments to collect data, verify conditions, and support construction and commissioning activities.
• Manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure high-quality and timely completion.
• Lead the development of standards, procedures, and best practices for mechanical design in power delivery applications.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to mechanical engineers, designers, and CAD technicians.
• Serve as a client-facing technical expert, presenting engineering solutions, addressing complex challenges, and supporting business development activities.
• Ensure adherence to QA/QC procedures, safety standards, and applicable codes (ASME, NFPA, API, IEEE, and NESC).

Principal Mechanical Engineer

Civil Engineer

• Lead structural design efforts from conceptual development through final design, ensuring alignment with project goals and requirements set by project managers.
• Develop structural specifications and data sheets for packaged equipment based on project scope.
• Prepare and manage Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), technical bid evaluations, and make informed purchase recommendations.
• Review and analyze structural vendor drawings to ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Coordinate and communicate technical information between suppliers, clients, and cross-disciplinary engineering teams.
• Collaborate with detailers and designers to ensure accurate interpretation and implementation of structural designs.
• Conduct quality reviews of production drawings across various projects to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.
• Verify and implement required corrections using multiple CAD platforms, ensuring design integrity and consistency.

Principal Structural Engineer

• Design, configure, and maintain telecom systems supporting substation protection and control schemes
• Integrate communication networks for SCADA, tele-protection, and automation systems
• Engineer and support microwave radio communication systems for utility-grade networks
• Ensure reliable communication paths for protection relays, including line differential and distance protection schemes
• Perform testing and commissioning of protection and telecom systems in substations
• Troubleshoot faults in telecom and protection interfaces, ensuring minimal downtime
• Collaborate with protection engineers to ensure proper signaling, latency, and redundancy requirements
• Develop and maintain documentation including network diagrams, settings files, and test reports
• Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, NERC where applicable)
• Support cybersecurity practices within telecom and control system environments
