About the role
- Perform daily accounting operations, including journal entries, reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, cash, and grant accounting
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit healthcare standards
- Support the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with organizational policies and applicable regulations
- Prepare schedules and documentation to support the annual financial audit, Form 990, and other regulatory filings
- Assist in grant reporting and compliance with Uniform Guidance and other funding requirements
- Partner with the Accounting Manager to support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis activities
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and help implement system enhancements to increase accuracy and efficiency
- Provide accurate and timely responses to financial data requests from leadership and program staff
- Ensure financial systems are maintained to support multiple funding streams and donor reporting requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred (not required)
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in nonprofit or healthcare organizations
- Experience with external audits, grant compliance, and Uniform Guidance reporting strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards (FASB), and healthcare-specific compliance
- Proficiency in accounting systems (Workday or similar ERP systems) and strong Excel skills
- Experience with Adaptive Planning, Power BI, or Tableau a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with non-financial colleagues
