About the role
- Support a team of software engineers in the development of software products and solutions, providing guidance, code reviews, and technical support
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, ensuring the successful delivery of software projects
- Assist in the professional growth and mentorship of team members through regular feedback, coaching, and career development planning
- Contribute to the execution of the software engineering strategy, participating in strategic discussions and technology assessments
- Manage project tasks and assignments, helping to prioritize and plan work to meet project goals
- Monitor project timelines, resource allocation, and budgets to ensure efficient project execution
- Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, working to resolve issues as they arise

- Contribute to software development projects by writing, testing, and debugging code, under the guidance of senior team members

- Assist in the documentation of software requirements and specifications, striving for clear and effective communication
- Participate in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, seeking guidance and mentorship
- Learn and adapt to software development practices and methodologies, actively participating in training programs
- Contribute to the implementation of best practices and emerging technologies
- Collaborate with team members to enhance understanding of software architecture and design
- Contribute to the team's knowledge sharing and learning environment
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (i.e., Computer Science) is required
- 1-2 years of relevant Mainframe application developer experience is mandatory
- Oracle Documaker experience in the insurance industry preferred
- Proficiency in 1 or more software programming languages: CICS and/or Cobol are required
- Development methodologies: Waterfall and/or Agile are required
- Coding and debugging skills are required
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities
- Strong problem-solving mindset
- Willingness to learn and adapt to the field
- Good technical and analytical skill
- Exceptional attention to detail and documentation skills
- Time management and multitasking ability
- Any exposure or certification in Life and Annuity Insurance domain preferred
- LOMA preferred
- Certifications in AWS, Azure or other Cloud technologies preferred
- All applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
- Candidates must live within a 20-25 miles commutable distance to Plano, TX
- Availability during operational hours: 7:30 am to 10:00 pm ET Monday – Friday
- Hybrid work model (may require 2 days commute to office)
