About the role
- Managing technical aspects of project development from inception through initiation of construction
- Supporting role through startup and closeout of projects
- Performing difficult and complex services requiring a high level of independent judgment, initiative, and discretion
- Screening projects to determine technical viability
- Ensuring that personnel safety and environmental awareness are incorporated in design
- Facilitating development and review of Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) specifications and drawings
- Preparing formal RFP packages and managing competitive bidding processes, including evaluation of proposals and selection of contractors and vendors
- Developing cost estimates and expenditure forecasts for management review
- Reviewing, managing and organizing project documentation including technical specifications, calculations, and drawings
- Coordinating performance test procedure development and evaluating performance test results
- Overseeing contractors, consultants, engineers, vendors, and government agencies to complete projects within scope, schedule, and budget
- Performing technical due diligence activities in support of acquisition efforts
- Traveling within the continental United States; expected to be about 10% to 30%
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering, or Construction Management
- 8 or more years of experience as a project engineer, project manager or construction manager
- Licensed Professional Engineer and/or Project Management Professional preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong presentation skills
- Working knowledge of MS computer applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project in a Windows environment
- Knowledge of Procore Project Management Software
- Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
- Capable of working alone or as part of a team without a significant level of supervision
- Ability to manage budgets, project costs and scheduling
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Capable of promoting and maintaining strong, positive relationships with coworkers, suppliers, contractors, vendors, engineering firms, and customers
- Willingness to share expertise and knowledge with other team members for the benefit of the entire company
- Willingness to acquire new technical skills
- Ability to function within a matrix organization in which functional and business leaders have equal authority within the organization and employees may report to both a functional leader and a business leader
