About the role

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger entries, accounts payable/receivable, payroll records, and bank reconciliations
  • Ensure accounting practices are in full compliance with DCAA regulations and standards
  • Assist with preparation and submission of invoices in accordance with government contract terms (T&M, CPFF, FFP)
  • Track and allocate costs appropriately using Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and indirect cost pools
  • Review, code, and process vendor bills and employee expenses, ensuring proper cost pool allocation and allowability under contract terms
  • Reconcile AR and AP sub-ledgers to the general ledger; maintain complete, audit-ready documentation for all transactions
  • Support monthly and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and preparation of financial reports
  • Assist in preparing for DCAA audits, incurred cost submissions, and other government audits
  • Maintain organized records and documentation in line with FAR and DFARS requirements
  • Collaborate with program managers, project teams, and external auditors as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting with a focus on government contracting
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Deltek Costpoint, Jamis, Unanet, or similar)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, with ability to create and manage complex spreadsheets, use formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis tools
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy in data entry and financial reporting
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Motivated initiative-taker and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with sensitive government and financial requirements
  • Preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Preferred: Working knowledge of Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, or similar government contract accounting systems
  • Preferred: Experience preparing or supporting Incurred Cost Submissions (ICS) and DCAA audits
