About the role
- Support lease accounting activities across real estate, fleet, and equipment portfolios for multiple entities and regions
- Contribute to the accurate and timely recognition, measurement, and reporting of lease transactions in compliance with IFRS 16 and US GAAP (ASC 842)
- Participate in period‑close processes, preparation of financial disclosures, audit support, and collaboration with cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure compliance, data integrity, and consistent financial reporting
- Apply IFRS 16 / ASC 842 to initial recognition, remeasurement, and subsequent accounting of leases (ROU assets, lease liabilities, interest, depreciation)
- Assess lease classification, incremental borrowing rates, modifications, reassessments, impairment, short‑term/low‑value exemptions, and embedded leases
- Maintain lease data (master data, key terms) in the lease database (SharePoint, PowerPlan or other)
- Partner with entities to capture new leases and modifications on time
- Prepare monthly amortization schedules, lease interest, depreciation, remeasurement entries, and foreign currency impacts
- Evidence SOX controls: completeness/accuracy of lease data and access controls
- Support monthly/quarterly close with high‑quality working papers, journal entries support, and variance commentary; ensure consistent accounting manual adherence
- Support external and internal audits with timely responses and samples
- Maintain and update process documentation (process maps, DTPs)
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to resolve accounting issues and discrepancies
- Identify and implement process automation (templates, reconciliations, controls), data quality enhancements, and system upgrades
- Monitor standard updates and drive impact assessments for policy changes
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in general ledger accounting, preferably in a similar role
- Good command of IFRS 16 and ASC 842 with practical application across complex portfolios
- Good knowledge of ERP Finance tools and MS Excel
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
- Experience with lease accounting tools (e.g.: PowerPlan)
- Good understanding of RTR processes and accounting principles
- Familiarity with SOX compliance and internal controls
- Proactive, self-driven approach to problem-solving
- High attention to detail and control mindset; able to work under tight close timelines
- Experience with leading projects
- Clear communicator with business acumen and stakeholder empathy
- Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines
- Team player with a collaborative spirit
- University degree (preferred: Finance, Economics, Accounting)
- Certifications: CIMA, ACCA as a plus
- Fluency in English.
