About the role

Drive the long-term strategy for scaling, resiliency, and performance of AWS Aurora clusters
Act as the lead consultant for engineering teams on data modeling and query optimization
Proactively identify and resolve complex performance bottlenecks
Lead the evaluation, prototyping, and adoption of new database technologies
Take full ownership of database observability and define key metrics

15+ years of experience with large scale MySQL systems
Extensive hands-on experience with AWS Aurora administration
Demonstrated experience guiding and influencing engineering teams on database best practices
Exceptional expertise in writing, analyzing, and optimizing complex SQL queries
Proven experience working with Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks
Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience with AWS Elasticache (Redis), AWS DynamoDB or other NoSQL databases (bonus points)
