About the role
- Drive the long-term strategy for scaling, resiliency, and performance of AWS Aurora clusters
- Act as the lead consultant for engineering teams on data modeling and query optimization
- Proactively identify and resolve complex performance bottlenecks
- Lead the evaluation, prototyping, and adoption of new database technologies
- Take full ownership of database observability and define key metrics
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience with large scale MySQL systems
- Extensive hands-on experience with AWS Aurora administration
- Demonstrated experience guiding and influencing engineering teams on database best practices
- Exceptional expertise in writing, analyzing, and optimizing complex SQL queries
- Proven experience working with Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks
- Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with AWS Elasticache (Redis), AWS DynamoDB or other NoSQL databases (bonus points)
