About the role

  • Responsible for facilitating and leading program capture, development, planning and execution across the Air Force Strategic Systems portfolio
  • Develop and manage new programs and establish programmatic relationships with Air Force Strategic and National Lab customers
  • Ideate and develop coherent and cohesive solutions through critical thinking while managing timely completion of defined multi-discipline programs
  • Accountable for managing program budget, schedules, and program growth
  • May be responsible for business development within current customer base and/or new customers
  • Coordinate successful execution of programs with internal stakeholders and interface with customers
  • Ensure contractual deliverables are completed on schedule and within approved budget
  • Support senior leadership in development of internal products and R&D recommendations
  • Develop program management best practices and train/mentor project teams
  • Monitor dependencies across multiple technical projects and report consolidated status and financials to leadership
  • Recommend changes to improve processes and reduce inaccuracies/duplication

Requirements

  • Proficiency in earned value, risk, and change management
  • Develop personal credibility with sponsor organizations and program staff
  • Ability to organize, motivate, and lead teams in business capture and execution activities
  • Manage complex programs, potentially fixed price contracts with high dollar volume or length
  • Oversee program budget and schedules
  • Responsible for program growth and marketing new technology or business acquisition
  • Interface with customers and coordinate internal stakeholders for program execution
  • Ensure contractual deliverables completed on schedule and within approved budget
  • Support Program Directors and Business Area Leads in R&D internal products
  • Develop technical program management best practices and provide training/mentoring
  • Monitor dependencies across inter-related technical projects
  • Gather and report technical project status and financial information to leadership
  • Recommend process improvements
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies/applications
  • Knowledge and proven track record of successful business interaction

  • Excellent communications, presentation and networking skills
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Deep expertise in leading program execution of full lifecycle projects
  • Experience growing business in R&D technology development or integrating new technology into fielded systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communications, presentations skills, organizational and time management skills
