About the role

  • Oversee a cost engineer and administrative staff for project controls.
  • Advise project executives, project managers, and project engineers on cost issues and strategy.
  • Develop project specific strategies, processes, and procedures.
  • Review data from subcontractors and summarize for project management team.
  • Meet regularly with owner’s site-based project managers for financial reviews.
  • Provide independent, objective advice to support the project team.
  • Specialize in monitoring, tracking and analyzing budgets and costs.
  • Produce and present external monthly reports to owner.
  • Manage the change order process.
  • Provide on-site training and dispute resolution.
  • Monitor CMiC database accuracy and maintain project financial records.
  • Liaise with scheduling resource to discuss cost impacts of schedule updates.
  • Conduct technical meetings and assess team members’ training needs.

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience desired including large, multi-phased construction projects.
  • Proficient user of CMiC PM or similar project management software / cost database.
  • Proficient user of Word and Excel essential.
  • A good understanding of construction systems and sequence of construction.
  • Experienced in management of teams or individual staff members.
  • Good leadership, communication and negotiation skills essential.
  • Ability to chair and keep meetings on track.
  • Technical and business writing skills essential.
  • Knowledge of basic general contractor accounting practices.
  • Working knowledge of construction insurances.
  • General contracting experience required; owner experience an advantage.
  • Complex external reporting.
  • Mission critical experience preferable but not essential.
  • Guaranteed maximum price knowledge and practice.
  • Mature client-facing ability.
  • AIA contract knowledge.
  • Bachelors’ degree, preferably in construction or engineering.
  • PMP – optional.
  • AACE membership- optional.
