About the role
- Recruiting with impact: You are the first point of contact for talent—from the initial approach to signing contracts. You independently manage the entire application process, conduct interviews and ensure we hire the right people for our team.
- Shaping employer branding: You develop and maintain our employer brand. Whether job ads or career pages—you make sure doQtor remains visible and attractive as an employer.
- Responsible payroll administration: You independently handle the monthly payroll and keep track of all relevant deadlines. This also includes registrations, de-registrations and change notifications for employees, and when necessary the use of the social security reporting portal (e.g., for submitting employment certificates). You act as the central contact person for social insurance agencies, the Federal Employment Agency and our legal counsel. Cooperation with an external tax advisor/tax firm only takes place in exceptional cases.
- Supporting onboarding: You shape the onboarding experience for new team members from contract preparation through the first week, ensuring they feel welcome from day one.
- Developing existing HR processes: You will work in a growing startup with already established HR structures. Rather than starting from scratch, you will refine existing processes, sharpen templates, optimize digital workflows and introduce new tools where they deliver real value.
- Administrative control: You take care of contracts, reference letters, personnel files and all associated organizational tasks—digital, structured and well-documented.
Requirements
- Initial experience: You have already gained first insights into HR as a working student, intern or in a similar role—ideally in recruiting, payroll or employer branding.
- Payroll experience is particularly important to us, ideally with Personio Payroll.
- Organizational talent with structure: You work independently, keep an overview even with many tasks and prioritize sensibly.
- Strong communication skills: You express yourself clearly and respectfully—whether by phone, email or in person.
- Number affinity and payroll know-how: Payroll processing, Excel sheets and deadlines do not intimidate you. On the contrary: you enjoy working precisely and conscientiously with data.
- Desire to shape things: You are keen to help build things from the ground up. For you, a startup mentality means opportunity, not chaos.
- Tool competence: You are confident using MS Office or Google Workspace. Experience or solid prior knowledge in payroll is required. Experience with HR software (we use Personio), applicant tracking systems or other HR systems is a plus but not mandatory—what matters is that you can learn new tools quickly and confidently.
- Degree or vocational training: You have completed or are close to completing a degree (e.g., Business Administration, Psychology, Health Management) or a commercial vocational training (e.g., apprenticeship as a Clerk for Personnel Management). Career changers with relevant experience are also welcome.
Benefits
- Flexible work arrangements: You can work flexibly from home and come to our office in Cologne when needed.
- In the heart of the action: At our Cologne location you'll find an accessible, dog-friendly coworking space (WeWork) with excellent public transport connections. Enjoy free barista coffee at the coffee bar, take part in on-site yoga classes and network at internal events with innovative startups that are shaping the future.
- Creative freedom: You are not just an implementer but a co-creator. Your ideas flow directly into the development of our HR processes.
- Development & learning: We support your professional development through feedback, team exchange and opportunities to take on responsibility.
- Team spirit: A collegial, interdisciplinary team that values your work and actively supports you.
- Meaningful work: You contribute to our company's growth—and thereby help provide psychosocial support to more people.
