About the role
- Provide daily leadership and supervision of converting department employees in a team-based work environment
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational policies while promoting a strong safety culture
- Manage production processes to achieve department goals related to safety, quality, productivity, cost, and morale
- Coordinate daily production activities to meet internal and external customer requirements
- Work closely with maintenance to coordinate equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and reliability improvements
- Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives within the converting operation
- Monitor production performance and implement actions to improve efficiency and reliability
- Coordinate across mill departments to support overall mill production and business objectives
- Provide coaching, training, and development for team members in both technical and non-technical areas
- Assist with planning, scheduling, and resource allocation within the department
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Pulp & Paper, Engineering or related field
- Equivalent educational and relevant production experience not less than 7 years
- Strong computer skills including Excel, Word, and mill operating systems (CIMS preferred)
- Strong communication, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and process understanding
- Proven ability to promote and maintain a safe working environment
- Experience in a manufacturing or paper converting environment preferred
