About the role

  • The Event Planner is responsible for planning and organizing various events for Doctors of BC.
  • The primary focus will be on arranging meetings, medical student and resident events, and other engagement activities.
  • This includes working with senior level team members across the organization to provide direction and ensure successful execution of internal and external events with budget oversight.
  • This role works closely with internal and external partners including venues, physician members, students/residents, and Doctors of BC Staff.

Requirements

  • Having completed post-secondary education AND up to two years of progressive experience.
  • Having an equivalent level of related work experience in-lieu of post-secondary education.
  • At least 2 years of experience in conference and event planning is ideal.
  • Public engagement training, project management, and change management training and experience is an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills as problems and opportunities arise from broad internal or external issues and events.
  • Considerable research & analytical thinking is required to design and complete projects & initiatives.
  • Proven ability to work with diverse groups with differing interests and motivations.
  • Works highly autonomously, and accesses guidance only when critically required from directors and executives.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, as well as strong written skills including proven ability to develop clear, concise, and comprehensive reports and other documents.
  • Strong diplomacy, collaboration skills, and conflict management capabilities.
  • Excellent technical skills including Office Suite, AV Requirements, and project management software.
