About the role

  • Interview our existing clients to understand who actually buys and why (ICP and JTBD research)
  • Map the buying committee and decision process for insurers, PMIs, benefit providers, and large employers
  • Translate what you learn into sharp positioning and messaging by segment
  • Based on buyer insights, develop hypotheses about which channels might work (cold outbound, partnerships with brokers/consultants, LinkedIn, industry events, referrals)
  • Pick 1-2 channels to test first and build them yourself
  • Run experiments to find your first repeatable lead gen channel - could be cold outbound, partner referrals, content, events, whatever the evidence suggests will work for these buyers
  • Generate qualified meetings for our Sales Directors
  • Build and optimize the lead nurture infrastructure (HubSpot workflows, sequences, basic automation)
  • Create the sales assets needed to close deals (pitch decks, one-pagers, case studies) - but only what's actually needed, not a content library
  • Track what's working, kill what isn't, double down on what shows promise
  • Work directly with senior leadership - Report to our Chief Growth Officer, partner closely with our Sales Directors. Your work will directly impact revenue, not get lost in a marketing org.
  • Build from scratch - No legacy systems or processes to navigate. You'll design the lead gen function the right way from day one.
  • Real ownership - We need someone who can figure things out independently. If you're someone who needs constant direction, this isn't the role. If you're energized by autonomy and accountability, you'll thrive.

Requirements

  • Channel experimentation for enterprise buyers - You've found and proven lead gen channels for complex B2B sales. You're hypotheses-driven: you talk to buyers, form opinions about what might work, test fast, and follow the evidence. Whether that's cold outbound, partnerships, events, or something else.
  • Customer discovery and positioning - You can run JTBD interviews, extract real insights, and translate them into messaging that resonates. You understand the difference between what buyers say they want and what actually drives decisions.
  • Hands-on execution - You're comfortable building whatever channel you test yourself. Writing cold emails, setting up HubSpot workflows, designing partnership programs, creating sales decks. You don't need a team to ship work.
  • Stage-relevant experience – You've taken a channel from experimental to working at a B2B company with complex, committee-based sales. Ideally you've done this in healthtech, SaaS, or another regulated industry where buyers move slowly and care about compliance.
  • Commercially minded – You understand enterprise sales cycles. You know the difference between a lead and a qualified opportunity. You can work productively with sales without needing to own the entire funnel.
