About the role

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive public affairs strategy for the APAC region, aligned with dLocal’s global objectives and local market needs.
  • Build and manage relationships with government agencies, regulators, policymakers, and industry associations to advocate for dLocal’s interests and enable business growth.
  • Monitor and analyze legislative, regulatory, and policy developments across APAC markets, providing timely insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Lead dLocal’s response to public policy challenges and opportunities, including drafting position papers, preparing testimony, and representing the company in public forums.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, Communications, and Business Development to ensure alignment on public affairs initiatives and messaging.
  • Manage crisis communications and issues management related to public policy or regulatory matters in the region.
  • Represent dLocal at industry events, conferences, and stakeholder meetings to strengthen our market reputation and influence.
  • Oversee the development of advocacy campaigns and coalition-building efforts to support business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards in public affairs activities.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing public affairs function across key LATAM markets by supporting Country managers to act on your behalf.
  • Coordinate media and comms products to support public affairs narratives across the region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Law, Public Policy, Communications, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in public affairs, government relations, or regulatory affairs, with significant exposure to the APAC region.
  • Proven track record of engaging with government officials, regulators, and industry associations in APAC.
  • Deep understanding of the political, economic, and regulatory landscape across key APAC markets.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English and Spanish (Portuguese is a strong plus).
  • Experience managing complex, cross-functional projects and leading teams in a matrixed, multicultural environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to anticipate and respond to emerging public policy issues.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to compliance and corporate integrity.
  • Experience working in a multinational corporation, ideally in fintech, payments, or technology sectors, is a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing public affairs strategies that drive business outcomes.
  • Established network of contacts within government, regulatory, and industry circles in major APAC markets.
  • Experience navigating crisis situations and managing sensitive regulatory or reputational issues.
  • Ability to travel frequently within the APAC region as required.
