About the role

  • Outgoing Discovery: Identify relevant Personal Injury cases (MVC, premises liability, product defect). Draft Form Interrogatories, Special Interrogatories, and Requests for Production using templates, ensuring compliance with California CCP. Coordinate with the litigation partner for template selection and attorney review.
  • Incoming Discovery: Request Word versions of discovery from defense counsel. Format responses and integrate medical/billing records. Contact California-based healthcare providers to request records, managing HIPAA authorizations, costs, and turnaround times.
  • Provider & Lien Tracking: Follow up with providers within 24 hours of request. Manage lien-related requests and ensure files are updated with current medical balances.
  • Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for Spanish and English-speaking clients. Guide clients through discovery responses, emphasizing honesty, thoroughness, and meeting all deadlines.
  • Record Production: Compile exhibits and collaborate with attorneys to determine production sets. Ensure all materials are Bates-stamped and reviewed before service.
  • Motion Formatting: Assist in drafting and formatting motions (e.g., Motions to Compel) by updating captions, names, and proof of service per local court rules.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Legal Assistant in Personal Injury law.
  • Familiarity with California litigation procedures and discovery timelines.
  • Professional fluency in written and verbal English and Spanish.
  • Strong communication skills to guide clients through complex legal forms and medical document collection.
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple tasks under strict litigation deadlines.
