About the role
- Lead the execution of the end-to-end lifecycle of on-site energy generation projects, from concept site acquisition through commissioning and handoff.
- Support the development and execution of regional generation strategy in alignment with global energy objectives and long-term capacity planning.
- Support technology selection, commercial structuring, vendor evaluation, and risk assessments for natural gas and alternative generation technologies.
- Establish program governance, standards, performance metrics, and technical requirements for the execution of on-site energy generation projects; aligning with the Digital Realty data center development standards.
- Work with internal acquisitions, design, engineering, and construction teams to integrate generation solutions into campus master planning and development roadmaps.
- Foster and own relationships with key industry partners like EPC providers and technical consultants.
- Partner with the energy, supply chain and commercial teams to negotiate major equipment, EPC, and long-lead agreements.
- Coordinate with environmental, permitting, and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
- Drive cross-functional alignment with Operations to ensure maintainability, reliability, and long-term asset performance.
- Provide executive-level reporting on program progress, risks, financials, and strategic direction.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of technical and project program management professionals and consultants.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in the project management of energy generation, distributed energy resources, utility-scale power, or large-scale industrial infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing complex generation programs, including natural gas-fired systems; exposure to nuclear or advanced energy technologies preferred.
- Strong understanding of EPC delivery models, OEM ecosystem, fuel supply considerations, and long-lead equipment procurement.
- Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage large capital programs.
- Expertise with permitting, environmental compliance, interconnection considerations, and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent executive communication, program governance, and vendor management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, energy systems, construction management or related field.
- Ability to travel to site projects up to 25% of the time to oversee progress.
