About the role

  • Participates as a key team member and strategic partner within the R&D/ CTO leadership, planning and coordinating the technical platform release pipelines for new product development and sustaining activities for all relevant products.
  • Participates across all technical platforms in establishing release plans and cadence according to program goals, sustaining needs, and cross-program plans for execution.
  • Participates in the governing and oversight of Insulet product development for the business segments through the newly formed segment PDT ensuring technical platform plans are clearly and consistently communicated and technical issues/risk are escalated and addressed.
  • Provides leadership within the Enterprise Program Management Office through partnership with the Segment EPMO Leaders to ensure the cross-functional initiatives and efforts align with overall business strategies in order to achieve successful outcomes per established goals and objectives.
  • Assists in directing technical platform teams responsible for the development of all approved features and corrections in alignment with programs and sustaining needs.
  • Prepared to lead from above or from along-side technical platform teams to ensure timely delivery and execution.
  • Hire, manage, and mentor staff for individual development and leadership in technical platform development.
  • Provides an unbiased, data-drive perspective of technical platform status and risks to ensure Insulet is objectively managing product development.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related technical field
  • 10+ years of related experience in product development or functional leadership within related field
  • Proven record of product development and implementation in electro-mechanic and/or software products
  • Experience with managing suppliers, external partners, and internal staff (at all levels)
  • Experience in the medical device industry with knowledge related to the FDA design control process
  • Master’s or PhD degree in related field (preferred)
  • 10+ years of related experience in product development within related field (preferred)
  • Ability to influence and manage others both as direct reports, and matrix reports (preferred)
  • Effective collaborator with strong IQ/EQ (preferred)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills (preferred)
  • Ability to anticipate (“see around corners”) major challenges for hardware and software product development (preferred)
  • Ability to organize and judge (triage) priorities (preferred)
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple efforts simultaneously (preferred)
