About the role

  • Work closely with the manufacturing shop floor to identify needs, develop plans, and implement actions that contribute to the advancement of technology and product quality of manufactured goods.
  • Drive successful base business improvements (Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Cost), through the use of Lean, Six Sigma, and other Continuous Improvement methods.
  • Demonstrates initiative to develop and implement improvement plans based on analysis of manufacturing operations relative to safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost using lean manufacturing, Six Sigma and other team-based problem-solving methods.
  • Performs value analysis on new process and/or new equipment to determine return on investment (ROI).
  • Prepares, proposes and manages implementation of capital and/or expense projects; including, team definition, project facilitation, task and time line management, and budget management.
  • Analyzes the process capability of new and existing equipment and processes.
  • Develops and implement plans to improve reliability and repeatability.
  • Assesses and implements process flow and plant layout solutions to maximize the utilization of space and labor/workflow.
  • Implements corrective actions as identified through divisional CAPA system, production monitoring, scrap trends, and rework trends.
  • Develops and manages software programs associated with shop floor gauging and data collection.
  • Develops, executes, and supports validation process.
  • Provides support for development of BOMs and Routes in ERP system.
  • Conducts studies of time and motion to determine production capacities and product costing, as well as to develop solutions to improve labor safety and productivity.
  • Provides guidance on design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Complies with the complaint handling process.
  • Depending on the needs of the company, the employee may be entrusted with and asked to perform other tasks related to his/her competence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Engineering or similar discipline; or equivalent work and education experience.
  • 2 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Experience with capital project development/implementation.
  • Demonstrated success with cost savings initiatives through lean implementation.
  • Experience with time and motion studies, costing systems, and line balancing.
  • Experience with automation and associated software controls.
  • Strategic thinking skills, and ability to effectively translate strategy into operating methodology and results.
  • Strong project management skills and planning and organizing skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a team mentality.
  • Superb problem identification and solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to analyze, evaluate and estimate.
  • Ability to multi-task.
