About the role

  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls, policies, and processes for accounting operations activities to assure control and protection of assets and accurate reporting of financial position.
  • Coordinate the completion of tasks related to the monthly financial close process to assure the timely, accurate preparation of financial statements consistent with U.S. GAAP and all company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in management meetings to review financial results.
  • Ensure that the Accounts Payable, Received Not Vouchered (RNV) and/or Accounts Receivable subledgers are reconciled and closed on a timely basis.
  • Research and recommend resolutions to variances between subledgers and the general ledger.
  • Understand OEM incentive programs and assist with the calculation and preparation of journal entries.
  • Collaborate with OEM’s, Dealers, Program Management, Accounting, and IT teams to implement OEM contracts and account for program elements.
  • Coordinate the completion of journal entries and account reconciliations within the assigned area of responsibility to ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Implement processes to calculate and provide accurate accounting for the following as assigned: Vendor credits (BTL) assuring that all vendor credits are properly supported.
  • Work with Supply Chain to understand the purchasing plan and BTL rates.
  • Revenue testing, shipping cutoff, sales return allowance and the bad debt allowance to ensure that the reserves on sales and accounts receivable are properly supported.
  • Manage the Accounting Operations teams to ensure the accurate and timely processing of assigned transactions to support the business.
  • Lead annual physical inventories, as required.
  • Assist with the coordination of the year-end audit with the external auditors.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, recommend appropriate solutions, and lead implementation of improvements.
  • Develop strong working relationships with associates in other functional areas, as appropriate.
  • Participate on cross-functional teams as an accounting advisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting required
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred
  • Five to seven years relevant accounting experience
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP required
  • Experience with a major ERP system required (i.e., Oracle, JDE, SAP)
  • Experience in developing, improving, and implementing financial information systems
