About the role
- Responsible for the quality of solution architecture work across the organisation and providing technical leadership in design and implementation of systems and software
- Lead and deliver complex application development projects across the Technology and Digital Program (TDP) Group aligning with agency strategic objectives
- Design and deliver new functional solutions and provide ongoing operational support for ICT solutions, ensuring adherence to time, budget and scope constraints
- Set overall vision, strategy, architecture, and roadmap for enterprise-wide solutions and be accountable for end-to-end solution design
- Evaluate customer requirements and map them to business processes and functional/solution architecture; ensure proper implementation from a solution architecture perspective
- Identify solution gaps and develop gap closure options including ISV components or customer-specific development
- Document, present and discuss end-to-end architecture and solution options, recommendations and implications; facilitate and support decision processes
- Identify cross-process and cross-solution integration points and lead coordination across software and service components
- Lead end-to-end solution analysis, design, integration, co-existence and migration
- Act as single point of contact to orchestrate parties involved in large and complex projects/programs from an architecture/technical perspective
- Drive innovation, continuous improvement, manage and lead change, and proactively share knowledge as subject matter expert
- Oversee and prepare a range of documentation and reports and present outcomes to stakeholders across multiple forums
- Resolve very complex, sensitive and/or escalated technical issues and ensure work aligns with business processes and delivery outcomes
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain Baseline security clearance
- Substantial experience in architecture design, particularly within the context of large-scale government projects
- Proficiency in an architect field (cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud; microservices; infrastructure; data; SAP; enterprise integration)
- Experience with tools and technologies such as Apache Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Data warehouse
- Experience with development and visualisation tools including Microsoft PowerPoint, Visio and DrawIO
- Formal TOGAF Certification - optional
- Strong knowledge and understanding of frameworks, legislation, policies, procedures and information management requirements relevant to the nominated domain
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Professional presentation skills
- Knowledge of data governance, privacy laws, and other policies that impact solution delivery within Services Australia
- Ability to develop various architecture documentation including High Level Architecture (HLA), Patterns, architecture option papers
- Ability to operate with a significant degree of independence and autonomy; decision-making dependent on own judgement
- Working arrangements: contractor will work from the specified office location (Canberra) for a minimum of 6 weeks before WFH will be considered; any WFH requires working in the specified office a minimum of 3 days per week
