About the role
- Partner with a team of tax professionals to consistently deliver all sales, use, and property tax obligations in a timely manner
- Prepare, review, and analyze sales, use, and property tax compliance data; continuously improve processes, and recommend automation integration to improve the end-to-end compliance process and reliability of results
- Collaborate with 3rd party consultants and internal parties to resolve indirect tax related issues, including but not limited to notices and business license matters
- Assist with indirect tax audits; compile and review requested documentation and audit workpapers, document results, and assist in implementing solutions to reduce future exposure
- Prepare month end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for indirect tax accounts
- Research, analyze, and communicate the impact of indirect tax law developments
- Monitor and evaluate business activities for filing responsibilities and nexus exposure to mitigate indirect tax deficiencies
- Research, understand, and determine the taxability of the goods and services being sold and purchased by the company
- Assist with special projects and perform other duties and responsibilities as requested
Requirements
- At least two (2) years of professional experience in a finance function (public or private)
- Preferred: Minimum 3 years of recent experience in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, results-oriented finance department or similar working environment
- Experience with process automation, improvements, and standardization
- Minimum 1 year of indirect tax compliance experience utilizing analytical skills with specific subject matter expertise and tax research skills
- Deep understanding of US retail and healthcare sales taxability concepts
- Ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and tactfully, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work productively with a high degree of independence and with accuracy and high attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to foster a positive and collaborative culture
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Experience with SAP
- Ability and initiative to learn new systems required to perform job responsibilities
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance
