About the role
- Design and oversee refrigeration and refrigeration control projects in the commercial refrigeration industry.
- Evaluate system performance and implement upgrades or system replacements to reduce energy consumption and lower environmental impact.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to select and design systems that align with refrigerant regulations and corporate sustainability standards.
- Train younger engineers on basic system designs and emerging technologies.
- Effectively communicate design with clients, jurisdictions, and contractors.
- Work in normal office environment and occasionally outside of a normal office; meet production schedules and budgets; may require overtime.
Requirements
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, a minimum 3 years of experience in refrigeration design is required.
- Or, An associate degree with minimum 5 years’ experience in refrigeration design who can show the applicability of the experience to the job description included.
- Strong knowledge of various refrigeration systems (i.e. DX systems, pumped secondary designs, and CO2 transcritical booster configurations).
- Strong knowledge of refrigeration control systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, REVIT, and Excel.
- Ability to effectively communicate design with clients, jurisdictions, and contractors.
- Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time, handle stressful situations and multi-tasking, work under time constraints, long hours may be required; overtime (40+ hours) may be required.
