About the role

  • Assist with indirect tax compliance across multiple domains, including Sales and Use tax, VAT, and Property tax.
  • Research and prepare indirect tax incentives and credits for various jurisdictions and large-scale projects.
  • Support indirect tax audits and manage refund claims to ensure financial accuracy and recovery.
  • Assist with mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and various strategic transactions as needed.
  • Play a pivotal role in technology projects, including establishing tax-related software requirements, testing, and documentation.
  • Support ad-hoc tasks and special projects as requested by the Senior Manager to drive department efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; a Master’s in Accounting or Tax is highly preferred.
  • 3–5 years of indirect tax experience within a large public accounting firm or corporate organization. Experience in the construction or technology industries is a significant advantage.
  • CPA license (or actively seeking a CPA license) is preferred.
  • Keen attention to detail with high comfort levels in tax software and advanced Microsoft Excel functions.
  • A self-starter with a natural curiosity to learn different types of tax and the motivation to drive process improvements in a fast-paced environment.
  • This position is designated a safety-sensitive position and/or is located in a safety-sensitive facility. Drug and alcohol program participation is required.
  • Experience with automated tax engines (e.g., Vertex, Avalara, or OneSource) is a plus.
  • Prior exposure to international VAT/GST requirements for cloud or digital services is a plus.
  • Experience with ERP implementation and tax-sensitization of financial data is a plus.
