Analyze production capacity against forecasted demand.
Lead, train, and evaluate production staff; participate in interviewing and hiring of new team members.
Work with upper Management and Talent / HR in identifying recruiting, staffing, and training needs.
Motivate, organize, and encourage teamwork; provide clear direction and focus to the team.
Monitor and control production costs to stay within budget; review monthly income statements and work with upper Management to set budgets.
Identify areas to reduce waste and improve cost-efficiency; audit and analyze processes for continuous improvement.
Generate and present production reports (KPIs, throughput, output, downtime, etc.) and use data for decision making.
Work with Project Managers, Engineering, Design Teams, R&D, Procurement, Expediting, and Project Management to ensure manufacturability and timely availability of materials.
Manage the Assembly and Welding Teams to ensure safety, housekeeping, and facility cleanliness.
Responsible for the quality of Factory Built offerings and work with the Quality Manager on continuous improvement initiatives.
Investigate production issues (bottlenecks, delays, defects) and resolve major issues escalated by Managers and Sr. Production Leads.
Evaluate and recommend new technologies and/or automation tools; justify capital expenditures for new equipment or upgrades.
Monitor company owned or rented equipment and maintenance; update status reports and communicate issues to upper management.
Hold monthly or quarterly 1-on-1’s with direct reports; support Proposal Department with pricing for FBS projects.
Attend Order Acceptance and/or Project Kick-off meetings; support customer audits and/or visits.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in manufacturing or production environments or substation experience with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Proven experience managing production teams and implementing lean manufacturing or continuous improvement strategies.
Heavy project management experience preferred.
Experience in Production and Inventory Management preferred.
Familiarity with safety, quality control, and regulatory standards in manufacturing.
Strong knowledge of production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Experience with ERP/MES systems.
Strong working knowledge of projection metrics and data analytics preferred.
Understanding of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or other process improvement techniques and methodologies (certification preferred).
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt (preferred).
Project Management Professional (PMP) (preferred).
Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) (preferred).
