About the role
- Lead instrument installations, customer onboarding, and workflow validation.
- Lead service projects communication between the customer and the technical team on scope of work and data output.
- Deliver customer training through on-site visits, classroom-style sessions, webinars, and conference workshops.
- Provide primary technical support and troubleshooting for customers, working closely with internal R&D and engineering teams.
- Support commercial activities including demos, evaluations, and scientific discussions with prospective customers.
- Act as the voice of the customer, capturing structured feedback, unmet needs, and workflow insights as a member of the core product development team.
- Partner with senior product managers to actively support the Product Development Process (PDP) across new product introductions (NPI) and sustaining initiatives, with the focus on our assay content portfolio.
- Work closely with R&D assay development teams to translate customer workflows and VOC into clear product inputs, including user needs, use cases.
- Participate in definition, execution, and validation phases of assay product roadmap including internal testing, and early customer evaluations.
- Lead the creation and maintenance of customer-facing documentation, training materials, application notes, and launch collateral, as well as coordinate on beta testing activities.
- Participate with senior product managers in competitive market analysis to understand alternative assays, emerging technologies and performance benchmarks, and use these insights to inform product positioning and development priorities.
Requirements
- Typically requires a minimum of 8 years as a Field Applications Scientist or equivalent role at a life sciences tools or molecular diagnostics company with a Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, bioengineering; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience.
- Hands-on experience supporting molecular biology workflows (e.g., PCR/qPCR/dPCR, NGS prep, or related assays).
- Experience partnering with internal stakeholders to translate customer feedback and voice-of-customer insights into meaningful product enhancements.
- Strong customer-facing communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts clearly.
- Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Collaborative mindset and willingness to work across scientific, commercial, and operational teams.
- Willingness to travel approximately 50%, depending on customer and business needs.
