About the role

  • Own and run core People Operations activities, including payroll processing, HRIS management, etc.
  • Serve as a first-line point of contact for employees, handling complex employee situations with professionalism, empathy, and discretion.
  • Build, document, and continuously improve People processes to ensure consistency, compliance, and a great employee experience as the company scales.
  • Partner closely with team leadership to design and execute people programs, including performance processes, manager enablement, and employee experience initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies, partnering with leadership as needed. Establish all HR policies, handbooks, and compliance protocols for a distributed, multi-state workforce.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Legal, and leaders across the company on people-related initiatives.
  • Partnering closely with Clinician Ops and Talent Leadership to ensure the seamless transition from candidate to employee is flawless, and that onboarding remains optimized.
  • Audit existing workflows to identify gaps before they become problems; you’ll be the one to say, "We need a system for this," and then go build it.

Requirements

  • 8-10+ years in HR/People Operations, with a proven track record of building departments from scratch in a startup environment.
  • You embrace the “0 to 1” mindset and thrive in ambiguity and enjoy the challenge of turning a blank slate into a well-oiled machine. You have experience taking a company from 20 to 150+ employees/clinicians, ideally more than once.
  • The ability to communicate with extreme professionalism and empathy. You’ll be a leader with internal and external facing responsibilities, necessitating excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Extremely detail-oriented and meticulous, and an understanding of licensing and compliance with a strong focus on accuracy and follow-through.
  • Comfort using AI-powered tools and modern HR technology (ideally Rippling) to improve efficiency and workflows.
