About the role

  • Counsel: building the first fully-vertical, AI-native medical group to multiply healthcare capacity.
  • Role: Senior Infrastructure Engineer (fully remote) with ownership over infrastructure and infra org direction.
  • Scale infrastructure and deployments to serve hundreds of thousands of patients with fast response times and 99.99% uptime.
  • Plan and lead key infrastructure investments balancing short-term delivery and long-term maintainability.
  • Drive development of core data infrastructure: data transformation, warehouse systems, HIE integrations, and ingestion pipelines.
  • Improve developer experience and engineering velocity via tooling, CI/CD, and observability systems.
  • Champion operational and security excellence, including reliability, monitoring, on-call practices, and infrastructure security aligned with HIPAA and SOC2.
  • Example projects: optimize Kubernetes clusters, migrate SQS workflows to Temporal, streamline release operations, design multi-tenant isolation and row-level encryption for sensitive data.

Requirements

  • 5+ years building production software, with 2+ years deploying production systems in a cloud environment.
  • Proven experience building infrastructure that handles millions of requests with strict uptime and latency requirements.
  • Proficiency with Terraform or similar tools for automated infrastructure management.
  • Proven experience with secure container deployment and Kubernetes best practices on AWS EKS.
  • Experience with large-scale SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and real-time queue systems (Kafka, SQS, Temporal).
  • Opinionated about improving developer experience through tooling, automation, and workflows.
  • Experience with tech stack: AWS, Terraform, TypeScript, Redis, Node, Postgres.
  • SRE toolkit: on-call, incident management, reliability and monitoring practices.
  • Hands-on experience scaling early systems from 1 → 10 in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
