About the role
- Management, maintenance and optimisation of Windows-based infrastructure including Windows Server, Azure Virtual Desktop and supporting Azure IaaS platforms.
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of operational standards and configurations across Windows Server and Azure Virtual Desktop environments.
- Ensure security best practices such as zero trust and least privilege access are embedded within operational practices.
- Manage and maintain endpoint and server security platforms including antivirus/EDR solutions.
- Own the lifecycle of Windows patch management across server and desktop platforms.
- Support the remediation of infrastructure vulnerabilities aligned with Core’s CE+ and ISO27001 controls.
- Ensure operational processes are aligned with Microsoft’s Cloud Adoption Framework.
- Act as an escalation point for the service desk and other resolver teams.
- Liaise with 3rd party vendors when required.
- Raising, managing, reviewing and releasing production changes.
- Provide leadership and mentoring.
Requirements
- Windows platform specialist with industry experience.
- Key technical areas include: Windows Server administration, virtual machine management and Azure Virtual Desktop.
- Endpoint and server security platforms (Microsoft Defender or equivalent), patch management and vulnerability remediation.
- Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID administration.
- PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Monitoring, troubleshooting and performance management of Windows-based infrastructure.
- Proven collaboration and analytical skills to proactively drive customers’ end user technology forward.
- Broad understanding of networking technologies and principles.
- Knowledge of security practices and the implementation of tools providing MFA, DLP, proxy services, encryption, event logging and alerting.
- Prior experience of working for a Managed Services Provider.
- Nice to have: ITIL v3 or v4 Foundation certification.
- Experience in Microsoft EUC Cloud technologies: Azure AD; M365; Exchange Online; InTune.
- Experience with automation and scripting within a public cloud environment.
- Experience using Azure DevOps.
- Implementing automation using Azure runbooks, Azure functions, Logic Apps, etc.
- Experience with Linux.
- Any of the following certifications: AZ-104, AZ-140, SC-300 or equivalent.
