About the role

  • Operate and maintain AD-integrated DNS, including zones, records, forwarders, and root hints.
  • Support DNS and Domain Controller operating systems, including patching and vulnerability management.
  • Monitor and manage performance and capacity of Active Directory and DNS services.
  • Troubleshoot DNS resolution issues affecting authentication, domain joins, and service discovery.
  • Manage Domain Controllers (virtual and physical), FSMO roles, and Global Catalog servers.
  • Add, remove, and decommission AD servers and domain services.
  • Troubleshoot replication, SYSVOL/DFSR, trusts, Kerberos, Netlogon, and time/NTP issues.
  • Maintain AD physical topology, including sites, subnets, and site links.
  • Support domain controller lifecycle management, including upgrades and decommissioning.
  • Manage OU design, delegation, RBAC, groups, and Group Policy.
  • Perform regular cleanup of stale accounts, orphaned objects, and outdated GPOs.
  • Manage forest and domain functional levels and support schema updates.
  • Maintain certificates required for Active Directory services.
  • Ensure adherence to enterprise identity governance and access control policies.
  • Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and automation to support Active Directory operations and maintenance.
  • Automate routine administrative tasks.
  • Build automated processes for auditing, compliance reporting, and environment cleanup.
  • Support infrastructure automation initiatives and integrate AD management into enterprise automation frameworks where applicable.
  • Work closely with the infrastructure team to ensure Active Directory backup and restore requirements are met.
  • Support AD object restores and disaster recovery activities, including recovery testing and rehearsals.
  • Support ransomware-resilient backup strategies from an Active Directory perspective.
  • Operate Tier 0 / privileged access controls, including KRBTGT reset activities.
  • Provide regular privileged access and Group Policy attestations.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving AD security posture and privileged access governance.
  • Monitor Active Directory health and proactively identify operational, security, and configuration risks.
  • Support incident response and problem management related to AD services.
  • Participate in operational reviews and continuous improvement of identity platform reliability and security.

Requirements

  • Strong enterprise experience with Microsoft Active Directory and DNS.
  • Proven experience supporting multi-forest and multi-domain AD environments.
  • Deep understanding of AD security, Kerberos authentication, Group Policy, and replication.
  • Experience operating Tier 0 / privileged access models.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong experience with PowerShell scripting and automation for Active Directory administration.
  • Microsoft identity or security certifications (desirable).
  • Experience in large-scale or regulated enterprise environments (desirable).
