About the role
- Responsible for timely and accurately closing the monthly financial books, including completion of general ledger transactions, researching variances to ensure there are no omissions or errors in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, and implementing best practices.
- Develop a solid understanding of the transaction flows within SAP, including revenue recognition, COGS, COGS variances, and inventory, to ensure accurate financial results.
- Completion of manual journal entries in accordance with IFRS and Corbion internal controls and ensuring proper support is included in source documents.
- Review and post journal entries from Plant Operations accounting team appropriately
- Complete, review and analyze all Balance Sheet accounts, ensuring they are reconciled monthly.
- Ensure variances are researched and resolved timely.
- Collaborate with other departments (Operations, Sales, Customer Service, etc.) to understand the business and ensure there are no surprises during close.
- Pre-plan with other departments regularly for month-end close.
- Actively participate in the completion of both the internal and external audits.
- Responsible for the intercompany reconciliation process, including netting
- Responsible for adherence to the internal control system in accordance with Corbion's internal control requirements and the Finance manual
- Oversee and manage the Credit/Collections team
- Team leadership, including managing and mentoring a team of two direct reports in the Finance department.
- Effective communication of departmental goals, objectives and expectations, and delegation to staff.
- Implement process improvements and automation where possible to improve manual processes
- Answer inquiries from internal and external customers in timely and professional manner
- Operate responsibly and comply with company policies at all times.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
- CPA is preferred
- Minimum of 5+ years of accounting experience with a solid understanding of general ledger practices and GAAP/IFRS compliance
- SAP experience is preferred.
- Proficiency with spreadsheet and word-processing software and various accounting systems/databases
- Proven analytical, organizational and time management skills; ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Detail oriented, with ability to analyze and research account variances.
