About the role
- Perform technical evaluation and selection of Owner's engineering services.
- Lead utility, regulatory and AHJ interface during construction.
- Perform detailed engineering design analysis, reviews and issue approvals on third-party design deliverables.
- Support interconnection and permitting processes with technical documentation and interfacing with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) during project construction.
- Perform factory and project site visits as needed in support of project construction activities.
- Lead quality assurance / quality control (QA/QC) process to ensure that project is delivered in accordance to project specifications for system design, equipment, and field implementation.
- Provide technical guidance during site acceptance testing and commissioning.
- Develop specifications and perform technical evaluations to support final selection of BESS/PV technology and major equipment.
- Ensure engineering design compliance with industry codes and standards.
- Provide functional subject matter expertise to project team e.g core proficiency in transmission-level design, codes and standards, BESS technology, PV design, power systems protection and relaying, etc.
- Provide technical input to engineering design standards as requested.
- Work cross-functionally to contribute to improvement for existing processes and support implementation of approved methods, tools and best practices for the execution of safe, quality and high-performance projects.
- Provide effective communication of project performance to stakeholders using appropriate presentation tools.
- Collaborate with junior engineering team members by sharing knowledge and providing feedback when requested.
- Active participation in technical workshops, webinars and publications.
- Ongoing engagement in professional development opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, civil/structural engineering or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in design engineering, with a focus on medium and low voltage power systems design.
- 5+ years professional experience in BESS/PV design, development and/or construction.
- Demonstrated competency in BESS, inverter and PV technology, their safety systems/standards, and commercial applications.
- Proficiency in power system analysis, specifically system design, equipment specifications and utility standards for medium voltage (distribution) and high voltage (transmission) level projects.
- Strong proficiency in one or more engineering specializations with strong understanding of design principles and renewable project applications.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and MS-Office suite.
- Core understanding of power system modeling tools (e.g. ETAP, SKM).
- Comprehensive understanding and application of NEC/NESC code.
- Comprehensive understanding and application of industry codes and standards such as NFPA 855, UL 9540, UL9540A, UL1973, UL1642, UL1741, etc.
- Ability to apply critical thinking and lessons learned to design optimization.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills for addressing project challenges.
- Commercial awareness relating to contract compliance, cost control and relative value of engineering solutions.
- Excellent ability to document and present technical findings to stakeholders.
- Effective interpersonal skills to work with internal teams and external stakeholders, including customers.
- Ability to manage and deliver multiple projects with competing priorities.
- High level of accuracy in design and documentation to ensure quality outcomes.

- As applicable, this role may involve physical activity, including but not limited to standing, walking, or lifting up to 50 lbs.
- 20% travel expected, primarily to prospective sites, project locations, customer, vendor visits, and for team events and company-wide meetings. Travel to remote sites may be required, which could involve driving or air travel.
