About the role

  • Provide project support within Substation Protection and Controls Engineering team
  • Perform substation electrical engineering: one-line, AC and DC elementary diagrams, wiring and interconnection, cable schedules, material lists
  • Configure SCADA and RTU, develop relay protection and relay control settings, and relay wiring
  • Perform substation engineering: general arrangement, control house layout, panel design, plans and sections, grounding, lightning protection, conduit layout
  • Prepare calculations and studies (grounding, lightning protection, AC/DC load studies, etc.)
  • Support civil/structural engineering: structural drawings, foundation drawings, foundation and steel calculations
  • Develop scope of work and conceptual designs as Project Engineering Lead
  • Provide guidance and mentorship and perform quality assurance reviews within engineering/design team
  • Plan, estimate, schedule, coordinate, and monitor project activities; manage client relationships and stakeholder deliverables
  • Ensure adherence to engineering design standards and quality programs specific to client requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineering Licensure (PE) is required; will accept Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) on path to licensure
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in the electric utility industry
  • Direct experience with Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Substation Projects
  • Experience in utility substation engineering with focus on electrical or physical aspects of design
  • Ability to work within engineering design standards and quality programs specific to client needs and requirements
  • Project Management skills and ability to meet critical deadlines
  • Outgoing team player with the ability to provide client confidence
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
