About the role
- Provide project support within the Substation Engineering team for T&D substation projects
- Perform Substation Electrical Engineering: one-line diagrams, AC and DC elementary, wiring and interconnection, cable schedules, material lists, SCADA and RTU, relay protection and control settings, relay wiring
- Perform Substation Engineering: general arrangement, control house layout, panel design, plans and sections, grounding, lightning protection, conduit layout, material lists, construction specifications
- Prepare calculations and reports (grounding, lightning protection, AC/DC load studies, etc.)
- Support Civil/Structural engineering and design including structural drawings, foundation drawings, foundation and steel calculations
- Lead project engineering tasks: develop scope of work and conceptual designs, project planning, organization, estimating, scheduling, coordinating and monitoring work activities
- Provide guidance and mentorship within engineering and design team and perform quality assurance reviews
- Strong client focus and customer service; plan engineering project deliverables with stakeholders
- Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams to meet critical deadlines
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Professional Engineering Licensure (PE) is required; will accept Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) on path to PE
- Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in the electric utility industry
- Direct experience with Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Substation Projects
- Experience in utility substation engineering with focus on electrical or physical aspects of design
- Project Management skills and ability to meet critical deadlines
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
- Knowledge of SCADA and RTU, Relay Protection Settings, Relay Control Settings, Relay Wiring
- Ability to work within engineering design standards and quality programs specific to client needs
- Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
- Outgoing team player with ability to provide client confidence
