About the role

  • Provide project support within the Substation Engineering team for T&D substation projects
  • Perform Substation Electrical Engineering: one-line diagrams, AC and DC elementary, wiring and interconnection, cable schedules, material lists, SCADA and RTU, relay protection and control settings, relay wiring
  • Perform Substation Engineering: general arrangement, control house layout, panel design, plans and sections, grounding, lightning protection, conduit layout, material lists, construction specifications
  • Prepare calculations and reports (grounding, lightning protection, AC/DC load studies, etc.)
  • Support Civil/Structural engineering and design including structural drawings, foundation drawings, foundation and steel calculations
  • Lead project engineering tasks: develop scope of work and conceptual designs, project planning, organization, estimating, scheduling, coordinating and monitoring work activities
  • Provide guidance and mentorship within engineering and design team and perform quality assurance reviews
  • Strong client focus and customer service; plan engineering project deliverables with stakeholders
  • Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams to meet critical deadlines

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineering Licensure (PE) is required; will accept Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) on path to PE
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in the electric utility industry
  • Direct experience with Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Substation Projects
  • Experience in utility substation engineering with focus on electrical or physical aspects of design
  • Project Management skills and ability to meet critical deadlines
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Knowledge of SCADA and RTU, Relay Protection Settings, Relay Control Settings, Relay Wiring
  • Ability to work within engineering design standards and quality programs specific to client needs
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills
  • Outgoing team player with ability to provide client confidence
