About the role
- Support business objective of System Protection.
- Responsible for development and implementation of electrical controls and protection systems in substations.
- Develops an understanding of schemes, specifications, guidelines, standards, procedures, and training materials.
- Provides engineering support for capital projects.
- Develops proficiency with the CAPE software.
- Responsible for compliance with and execution of NERC Order 693 and CIP requirements.
- Performs troubleshooting of protection design and settings issues and makes recommendations for resolving problems.
- Participates in technical discussions with other engineers in the Relay group.
- Works with other ITC groups and offices to develop common best practices and activities such as standards.
- Attends technical conferences to represent ITC and training to increase professional knowledge and skills.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering. Major in Electrical Engineering or related engineering area or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.
- Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in related area for an Intermediate Engineer level.
- Minimum of six (6) years of work experience in related area for Senior Engineer level
- Technical expertise preferred in planning, design, construction and/or maintenance of electric power transmission lines, substations, power equipment or control systems (including relay protection, SCADA and telecommunications).
- Power system coursework preferred for electrical engineering majors.
- Utility experience preferred.
- Possesses sound analytical, problem-solving and documentation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to multi-task and work under minimal supervision, in a team environment.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access).
- Ability to learn and utilize job specific software.
