About the role

  • Negotiate first-of-their-kind, highly-tailored agreements with strategic partners and sophisticated counterparties in the payments and fintech space.
  • Drive novel agreement structures and provide practical advice on legal issues and risk.
  • Effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams (Business Development, Sales, Product, Engineering, Finance/Tax, Compliance) and legal colleagues to solve problems, build partnerships, and close complex deals quickly.
  • Develop scaled strategies for addressing risk in business-centric ways and build commercial playbooks that facilitate business flexibility and accelerate deal timelines.
  • Serve as a trusted business partner by looking around corners and creatively solving problems with the business to help build and execute their transactional and product roadmap.

Requirements

  • 7-10+ years of relevant transactional experience in-house or at a leading law firm, supported by a JD (or applicable equivalent) and current license in a U.S. state.
  • Deep expertise with fintechs, banks, payment processors, payment networks, and/or payment issuers/acquirers, and experience structuring complex transactions and commercial agreements with strategic partners in this space.
  • Excellent commercial drafting and negotiation skills, judgment, analytic rigor, and business pragmatism.
  • Willingness to roll up sleeves (no job too big, no job too small).
  • Interest in digital currency and blockchain technology.
  • Demonstrates the ability to responsibly use generative AI tools and copilots in daily workflows.
