About the role
- Oversee all aspects of import operations, including customs clearance, KPIs, and compliance
- Prepare, review, and submit accurate documentation (Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Certificates of Origin, ISF filings)
- Ensure adherence to international trade laws, customs regulations, and company policies
- Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, and government agencies to resolve clearance issues
- Monitor tariff classifications, duty rates, and apply free trade agreements to minimize costs
- Manage compliance programs such as CTPAT and maintain audit-ready records
- Analyze and report customs-related data for internal audits and regulatory reviews
- Provide guidance and training to junior staff on customs procedures and compliance requirements
- Stay updated on changes in global trade regulations and recommend process improvements
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3-5+ years of experience in import/export operations with a focus on customs compliance
- Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS codes, and global trade compliance
- CargoWise One Experience highly preferred
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Customs documentation and regulatory compliance
- Experience with IEEPA, Sec 301, FTAS, Exclusion qualifiers, and Sec 232 provisional tariff application
- Stakeholder coordination and negotiation
- Data analysis and reporting
- Problem-solving under time-sensitive conditions
- Preferred Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field
- Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)
