About the role

  • Oversee all aspects of import operations, including customs clearance, KPIS, and compliance
  • Prepare, review, and submit accurate documentation (Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Certificates of Origin, ISF filings)
  • Ensure adherence to international trade laws, customs regulations, and company policies
  • Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, carriers, and government agencies to resolve clearance issues
  • Monitor tariff classifications, duty rates, and apply free trade agreements to minimize costs
  • Manage compliance programs such as CTPAT and maintain audit-ready records
  • Analyze and report customs-related data for internal audits and regulatory reviews
  • Provide guidance and training to junior staff on customs procedures and compliance requirements
  • Stay updated on changes in global trade regulations and recommend process improvements

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED in addition to related field experience
  • 5-7+ years of experience in import/export operations with a focus on customs compliance
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS codes, and global trade compliance
  • CargoWise One Experience highly preferred
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
  • Customs documentation and regulatory compliance
  • Experience with IEEPA, Sec 301, FTAS, Exclusion qualifiers, and Sec 232 provisional tariff application including partials for Metals Tariff classification and duty management
  • Stakeholder coordination and negotiation
  • Data analysis and reporting
  • Problem-solving under time-sensitive conditions
  • Preferred Certifications: Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field
  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)
  • CTPAT compliance experience
