About the role

  • Lead development and execution of global supply-side strategies for HAP, Nutrition, Assistive Technology Market.
  • Identify high-impact opportunities for increasing the availability and affordability of priority commodities in the aforementioned disease areas.
  • Lead negotiations with suppliers on priority commodities in the aforementioned disease areas.
  • Identify and develop CHAI’s working relationship with suppliers in Africa to further CHAI’s work on regional manufacturing.
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and potential suppliers of drugs and diagnostics in low-middle-income markets by providing market insights and contacts, offering targeted support and guidance to navigate regulatory and procurement processes.
  • Support CHAI Rwanda team in their work on Nutrition and Assistive Technology.
  • Liaise with the PCQRA, the disease team and country teams to develop the market analysis required to support negotiations with suppliers to expedite time-to-market, reduce pricing and improve supply security.
  • Lead response to Request of Proposals for commodities and services in collaboration with CHAI disease and country programs.
  • Monitor GMT activities against program goals and donor commitments, identify operational bottlenecks or weaknesses, and work collaboratively with CHAI country and global teams to achieve exceptional results on aggressive timelines.
  • Any other work activities as required by the Senior Director, Global Markets.
  • Travel to supplier locations, CHAI program countries, and other locations as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Economics, Public Health, Business, or a related field
  • Minimum of 8+ years (with an advanced degree) or 10+ years (with a Bachelor’s degree) of professional experience in demanding, results-oriented environments across the public and/or private sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability in managing large projects, project design, and teams.
  • Ability to be effective in high-pressure situations and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • highly organized.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset: demonstrated ability to operate in an unstructured but demanding, multicultural environment independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, set priorities, and rapidly absorb/synthesize a broad range of information.
  • Exceptional diplomatic and interpersonal skills, and ability to build strong professional relationships with a range of stakeholders in a challenging, multicultural environment.
  • Ability to collaborate remotely with team members spread across geographies.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Excellent analytical (qualitative and quantitative) skills and strong written and oral communication skills, including development of analyses/ presentations for varied project audience/stakeholders.
  • English language fluency, both written and verbal.
  • Willingness to travel frequently and at short notice.
