Job Description : As Esports Features Writer, you’ll be responsible for providing leading competitive gaming coverage. You will be an esports enthusiast who has an intimate knowledge of all the major esports games, tournaments, players, and developments within the scene; someone who works quickly and accurately in the fast-paced esports world. Responsibilities: In-depth reporting and analysis, providing at least five thoroughly researched esports gaming/betting features per week, encompassing the latest industry trends, developments in the scene, interviews, Evergreen/SEO articles, and Op-Eds. Leading tournament coverage in the run-up to big events. You will provide insight and speculation ahead, live coverage during, and post-tournament analysis of all the notable happenings. Deliver accurate, polished, and high-quality work that is factually sound, engaging, and entertaining. Be an authoritative voice on esports betting. Utilize data tools (AHRefs, Google Trends, Detailed SEO Extension, GA4) and your instinct (organics such as Reddit, X, Liquipedia) to be ahead of the curve with respective historic and upcoming esports content. Building out our extensive portfolio of Wiki/educational content with a formal, but engaging tone to help teach our readers more about Esports.
Requirements
- Must be based in a European time zone (GMT - GMT +4) Strong writing and editing skills; immaculate use of grammar to create active and engaging esports long-form editorial. Previous experience writing for esports publications/esports teams, with proven knowledge and passion for events, teams, games, and betting/gambling. An analytical mindset with the ability to speculate on trends, be an authority on how games are played, know the strengths/weaknesses of players, and the history of teams. Willingness to learn and be adaptable in a fast-paced and thriving environment; to know when to pivot from a breaking story to an evergreen, and have an eye on which events are upcoming on a weekly/monthly basis with effective time management. Experience crawling social media extensively, such as X, Reddit, TikTok, Instagram, Twitch, and Kick, so that we’re covering esports events and long-form time-sensitive work as it happens. Effective use of SEO with knowledge of industry-standard tools and the instinct/experience to know how to implement keywords and FAQs without keyword stuffing. Proven experience in team collaboration. A passion for esports. You will need to be deeply entrenched in the culture, have a genuine interest in all the teams, events upcoming, current, and historic esports games, and use this expert knowledge to best inform our readers with world-class coverage.
