About the role
- Provide education to providers and clinicians for accurate documentation of clinical conditions
- Support appropriate coding, quality measure reporting, and reimbursement
- Maintain an accurate and complete record of review and query activity in the CDI software system
- Utilize tools in CDI software for review completion and optimal coding
- Meet daily review, query, and response targets
- Participate in performance improvement and employee engagement activities
- Assist co-caregivers and management with guidance regarding procedures
- Provide 1:1 education to physicians and clinical staff
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
- Five years of experience as clinical nurse in a high acuity department OR five years of experience as an inpatient or outpatient coder OR two years of experience as a Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist
- Associate’s Degree in healthcare-related field (preferred)
- Registered Nurse (RN) in the current state of employment (preferred)
- ICD10-CM, CPT, HCC, and HCPCS inpatient or outpatient coding experience (preferred)
- ER, med surg, inpatient or care management experience (preferred)
- Three to five years of ICU experience (preferred)
- Med/Surg and strong CDI experience (preferred)
- Systems EPIC – 3M Microsoft office experience (preferred)
